A Comedy by Philip Goulding

Based on the Original Ealing Comedy Screenplay by T.E.B. Clarke

Director: Nick Lawrence

Sunday, 26 March 2017 at 3.00 pm at The Blackmore Theatre

Production Dates:  Monday 3 – Saturday 8 July 2017 (including a matinee performance on the Saturday)

This play is about the villagers of Titfield who, upon hearing that their branch line is about to be axed, decide to buy the railway and run it themselves.  They find they are very much up against it as not only have they got to convince the railway authorities they are competent, but they have to also compete against a planned bus service, the operators of whom are bitterly opposed to the railway campaign.

The Characters in this play are:

Lady Edna Chesterford

Mr Blakeworth

Dan Taylor

Vernon Crump

Harry Crump

Joan Weech

Rev Sam Weech

Mr Valentine

Miss Coggett

Mr Ruddock

Mrs Bottomley

Sergeant Wilson

Mr Clegg

The manner in which this play is written allows for multiple roles (as has indeed been the case in the past).  The suggested multiple roles (2 women and 5 men) may be:

Lady Edna Chesterford

Clifton                  Joan Weech                      Miss Coggett

Rev Sam Weech

Mr Valentine          Vernon Crump

Mr Blakeworth       Mr Clegg

Dan Taylor             Mr Ruddock

Harry Crump          Sergeant Wilson             Mrs Bottomley

The Director would be happy to consider women to play some of the male roles (as men) and vice versa.  Not all roles have to be doubled (but some may or could be split).

If you are unable to make the Sunday, 26 March auditions and would like to be considered, please email leaving your name and contact details.  This information will then be passed to Nick Lawrence who will call you direct.

Rehearsals are likely to be on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings.  The first will be a read through on Tuesday 25th April.
